New bridge to cut travel time to Shaoxing City

WITH the unveiling of the Jiashao Bridge over the Hangzhou Bay today, it will be faster for road travelers from Shanghai to reach Shaoxing City in neighboring Zhejiang Province.
The Jiashao Bridge, which links Jiaxing and Shaoxing cities, is the world's longest and widest multi-span, cable-stayed bridge.
It is also the second bridge over the Hangzhou Bay.
The 10.1-kilometer, 16-lane bridge will connect several highways, including Jiasu, Changtai and Hangyong highways. It will take about 1.5 hours to drive from Shanghai to Shaoxing, half the time needed before.
