Next week’s road restrictions, closures

WE can look forward to warm weather over the weekend and the beginning of the National Day holiday.
While it will be cloudy to overcast, with some drizzle in the afternoon today and tomorrow, temperatures will range between 20 and 27 degrees Celsius. Rain will stop from Sunday.
The seven-day National Day holiday will have a cloudy, cooler start as temperatures fluctuate between 20 and 25 degrees on October 1 and 2. Some sunshine is forecast for October 3.
Some downtown streets will be closed to traffic before and during the holiday.
From September 30 to October 5, from 3:30 to 11:30pm, the area enclosed by Liyang Road, Changzhi Road, Tiantong Road and Qufu Road in the north, Xizang Road N., Xizang Road M., Beijing Road W., Chengdu Road N., Chongqing Road M. and Chongqing Road S. in the west, Huaihai Road M., Huaihai Road E., Renmin Road and Dongmen Road in the south, and Huangpu River will ban all motor vehicles, except these roads.
Motorists will be able to enter Yan’an Elevated Road from the Bund Tunnel and enter Yan’an Road E. Tunnel and the Bund Tunnel from the elevated road. Cars heading for Pudong down the elevated road are allowed to enter the Yan’an Road E. Tunnel only at the Fujian Road off-ramp.
In Pudong, the area enclosed by Baibu Street, Lujiazui Ring Road N., Lujiazui Ring Road S., Shibu Street and Huangpu River will also be closed to motorists, except these roads.
Bikes and e-bikes will be banned from the area enclosed by Suzhou Road S., Henan Road M., Henan Road S., Renmin Road, Xinkaihe Road and Huangpu River, except these roads.
Also, from October 1 to 5, from 3:30 to 11:30pm, Metro trains on Line 2 and 10 won’t stop at Nanjing Road E.
Meanwhile, the Huangpu River Sightseeing Tunnel will be out of service, and possibly also Dongjin ferry line from Pudong to Puxi.
Shanghai Road Administration Bureau reminds people that from October 1 to 7, motor vehicles with no more than seven seats will be exempt from paying toll fees when using the city’s expressways.
The bureau estimates that the total number of vehicles passing expressways within Shanghai during the holiday will be 9.7 million, a 10.5 percent rise from the same period last year.
While 65 percent of the outbound vehicles will go in the direction of Jiangsu Province, the rest will go in the direction of Zhejiang Province. The busiest expressways are predicted to be G2, G15, G60 and the Yangtze Bridge and Tunnel on G40.
The bureau also reminds tourists going in the direction of Suzhou and Changzhou in Jiangsu can go by Beidi Elevated Road or the new part of S26 expressway to avoid busy G2, G50 and Yan’an Elevated Road.
