Orange alert for rainstorms in parts of Shanghai

THUNDERSTORMS are expected in parts of Shanghai this afternoon and the local weather bureau has issued an orange rainstorm alert, the second highest of a four-color warning system.
Dark clouds have gathered over Pudong and Minhang districts and thundershowers with up to 50 millimeters of rainfall are expected this afternoon, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The bureau upgrade the yellow rainstorm alert to orange at 1:01pm.
The maximum temperature in downtown Shanghai reached 36 degrees Celsius around noon, the bureau said.
