Passengers get tri-color guide to ride

LOCAL subway passengers will get real-time traffic information through a new three-color display system, officials said yesterday.

The system, which begins tomorrow, will use three colors to inform the passengers:

"Green" indicating smooth traffic.

"Yellow" as a caution that operations are at full capacity, and it would be wise to wait for a moment or choose a green route.

And "red," a warning that trains are delayed for more than 15 minutes, stations are shut down or operations are at a halt. In these cases, passengers will be advised to transfer to ground transportation or look for a green route.

According to Metro officials, passengers will soon see the three-color display in stations, trains, and also on the official Website, www.shmetro.com.

The new system, which is similar to the road condition display system, has been on a trail run since October in several Metro stations such as the People's Square Station.
