Plan made to build another train station in Pudong

SHANGHAI is to build a new railway station in Chuansha, Pudong New Area to create another transportation hub besides the Hongqiao Transportation Hub in the western part of Shanghai.
The Shanghai East Railway Station will mainly serve inter-city trains that connect the Pudong International Airport with cities in neighboring provinces.
The new station is expected to be located near Shanghai Disneyland which is under construction. Officials said tourist demand for public transit will be huge in the area.
Chuansha already has an old railway station that is used only for freight transport.
Details of the new station are under discussion, but it will mainly serve trains traveling along the coast from Luchaogang in southern Pudong up to Nantong and Lianyungang cities in Jiangsu Province.
The downtown Shanghai Railway Station will mainly serve trains running between Shanghai and Nanjing, while the Hongqiao Railway Station will serve trains traveling between Shanghai and Beijing.
Shanghai has a well-developed rail system that allows people to reach any city in the Yangtze Delta region within two hours.
