Provinces offer discount visits

WORLD Expo ticket holders can enjoy 20 to 50 percent discounts at tourist attractions in neighboring Jiangsu Province during the Expo from May to October, the province's tourism authorities said yesterday.

The Confucius Temple and the Qinhuaihe River, the two most popular tourist spots in Nanjing, will half the price of the 50 yuan (US$7.33) ticket which covers both attractions.

Other cities, including Xuzhou, Zhenjiang, Nantong and Suqian, will offer 20 percent discounts at their tourist spots.

The province has prepared enough hotel rooms and trained staff at hotels and tourist attractions to receive Expo visitors from both home and abroad, said Yuan Ding, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Bureau.

More than 30 percent of Expo visitors are expected to visit the province, said Zhang Weiguo, Jiangsu's deputy governor.

Shaanxi Province's Xi'an City will also give 20 percent discounts at its tourist attractions, including the famous terracotta warriors.

And there's 10 percent off the price of a visit to Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province.
