Rain (and maybe snow) headed for city as New Year approaches
SHANGHAI will see rain the rest of the week, after which a serious temperature plunge should occur over the weekend, forecasters said yesterday.
The Shanghai Meteorological Observatory said the next few days will see similar day and night temperatures due to the rain. Today is forecast overcast to drizzly with a high of 10 degrees Celsius and low of seven.
It will rain harder tomorrow, while the mercury should remain from 8 to 10 degrees, said the observatory.
Much colder weather will start on Friday, with the mercury dropping by around 5 degrees over the weekend and hitting zero for the Lunar New Year next Monday, the observatory said.
The rain and drizzle should continue intermittently over the weekend and cease on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
There is even a possibility that the rain will turn to snow around the Lunar New Year's Eve on Sunday night.
