Rainy days will last until late this week
THE weather is expected to get better, finally, after Thursday, but before that rain will continue to drench the city.
Low temperatures will also persist this week. The maximum temperature will range between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius, with lows of 5 to 6 degrees.
"Even after Friday, we will not have a long period of sunny weather," said Man Liping, a forecaster with the bureau. "Rain will still fall at times. A cold front and a warm current have been drifting over the Yangtze River Delta region for more than a week, forming a very stable rain belt."
The rainfall in February was more than twice the average amount, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said yesterday.
The city had 93.7 millimeters of rain from February 21 to Saturday, a new record for the period, according to data that goes back to 1873, forecasters said.
