Roads set to close for New Year fun runs
A NUMBER of traffic restrictions will be introduced on New Year’s Day to accommodate three fun runs in the city, police said yesterday.
In the Pudong New Area, several roads will be closed from 7am to 10am as the “serious” runners make their way from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower to the China Art Museum. Restrictions will apply to Fenghe Road, Lujiazui Ring Road, Yincheng Road M., Puming Road, Expo Avenue and Bocheng Road, police said.
In Jing’an District, people taking part in a “health run” will attempt to get from the Jing’an Park to the Shanghai Television Station in one piece. To help ensure they do traffic will be banned along Nanjing Road W., Chengdu Road N., Weihai Road and Qinghai Road between 7:20am and 7:50am, police said.
Finally, a “charity run” will follow a circular route that starts and ends at the New World Department Store in Huangpu District.
Anyone hoping to drive along Nanjing Road W., Nanjing Road E., Henan Road M. and Jiujiang Road should avoid the area between 7:30am and 8am.
