Roads shut for runners

TRAFFIC restrictions will affect parts of the World Expo site and the Oriental Sports Center in the Pudong New Area tomorrow for a jogging event marking the opening of the city's annual public sports festival, city police said.

To make way for runners and an opening ceremony, traffic will be banned from 6:30am to 8am tomorrow in part of Yuntai Road and Guozhan Road, police said.

Traffic will be banned from 8am to 9:30am on Guozhan Road, Shangnan Road, Shibo Avenue, Houtan Road, Bocheng Road, Changqing Road N., Xueye No. 2 Road, Yaolong Road and Yongyao Road.

The restrictions will not apply to police cars, fire engines, ambulances, recovery vehicles and mail trucks.

The affected roads are among popular weekend cycling routes among expatriates. Police suggested they alter their route.
