Shanghai cab prices to rise from Sunday
TAXI fares will rise to 12 yuan (US$1.75) for the first 3 kilometers, a rise of 1 yuan, starting from Sunday, the Shanghai Reform and Development Commission announced today. Fares for additional kilometers will also rise from 2.10 yuan to 2.40 yuan on October 11, the price regulator said.
Cab rides after 11pm and before 6am will rise to 16 yuan from 14 yuan for the first 2 kilometers, with extra kilometers costing 3.10 yuan instead of 2.40 yuan.
The basic fare for suburban taxis will be raised by 1 yuan to 10 yuan for the first 3 kilometers. All cab meters will be changed to reflect the new fares by the end of this month.
