Shanghai health clinic firm raises 300m yuan

MEINIAN Onehealth Healthcare (Group) Co, the largest health checkup clinic firm in the nation, announced in Shanghai today that it has secured joint investments totaling 300 million yuan (US$48.9 million) from the Carlyle Group, Ping An Insurance (Group) Co of China, and Cathay Capital's Sino-French Fund.

Currently, Meinian Onehealth has more than 100 health checkup clinics and medical centers in the nation. In 2013, it expects to serve more than 5 million customers, a growth rate of 50 percent.

Meinian Onehealth, which is based in Shanghai, said the investments showed China's health care industry is a rising and promising sector, as there is strong growth potential given changing demographics and greater health awareness.
