Shanghai travelers unaffected by Manila tragedy
SHANGHAI tour groups in the Philippines, where 10 Hong Kong tourists died in a bus hijack yesterday, were not affected by the incident, said local travel agencies.
More than 100 Shanghai tourists are now traveling in the Philippines, according to the city's four main overseas tour operators, who said their trips had not been affected by the tragedy after 21 Hong Kong tourists were hijacked on their bus in capital Manila.
Local tour operators, who are waiting for notice from the National Tourism Administration, have no idea whether groups set to leave for the Philippines in coming days can actually go as planned.
A tour group organized by Shanghai CITS left for the country today.
Last night, a group of more than 20 Shanghai travelers returned safely from Manila unaware of the bus hijack.
