Shanghai tries to entice back Japanese tourists
THE Shanghai Tourism Administration is hoping to redress the slide in Japanese tourists this year by promoting the city and the 2010 World Expo.
The Shanghai Tourism Administration this week invited 200 tourism industry representatives from Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka to discover the city's attractions.
The administration will hold travel shows in Tokyo and Osaka this month and again in September. It will promote Expo tour packages in Japanese cities this month and again in May, September and October.
In 2008, Shanghai attracted 1.02 million Japanese visitors, 10 percent less than 2007.
