Shuttle bus trauma for passengers
MORE than 30 passengers on a city airport shuttle bus were forced to break the bus glass window to get out as the driver fainted after the vehicle crashed into a roadside safety barrier in the Pudong New Area yesterday morning.
Most of the passengers suffered scratches and bruises with no serious injuries.
Some slightly injured passengers, with flights to catch, had to ride the next bus shift to the Pudong International Airport without first-aid. The bus had more than 30 passengers and police are still investigating.
The accident happened about 6:30am on Luoshan Road near Longyang Road.
The driver lost control of the bus as he made a turn, said a witness, surnamed Zhang.
The bus did not stop at once but slid on the road. It stopped after its rear hit the barrier.
Some passengers used the hammers, with which the bus was equipped, to break the bus window and escape.
