Sightseers From Shanghai Safe
Some 1,900 tourists from the city, travelling in 74 groups, were on sightseeing trips to Taiwan when the typhoon struck. Fortunately, they are all safe, said the Shanghai Tourism Administration.
Following reports of a road collapse, the administration ordered local travel agencies to contact their groups in Taiwan. The response showed that no locals were involved in the accident.
Some groups will have to change their itinerary, but will be able to return to the city as scheduled, officials said.
Yesterday, tours to Taiwan still were running.
