Signal failure paralyzes Metro Line 7 in rush hour

A signal failure delayed the trains on Metro Line 7 during the rush hour this morning, affecting hundreds of thousands of commuters for three hours.

The Metro operator said the signal system is very complicated and its repair took longer time than other glitches. Due to the system fault, trains were dispatched manually, resulting in long intervals and partial closing of some stations along the line.

The mishap aggravated the problem of overcrowding in some exchange stations such as the Century Avenue Station and People's Square Station as Line 7 passengers sought other routes.

It is the first time that Metro Line 7 was paralyzed by a signal failure that lasted nearly whole morning, affecting a great number of travelers.
