Subway construction site accidents kill 2, injure 6

TWO workers died in two separate accidents at subway construction sites in Shanghai today.
A crane crashed at the site of a Metro Line 9 station on Zhonghua Road in Huangpu District about 10:30am, Xinmin.cn reported today. The crane operator died on site.
A fire broke out at a Metro Line 11 station construction site in Putuo District about 11:20am, one worker died and six others were injured.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The fire started on the third underground level of a Line 11 station at the intersection of Caoyang Road and Baiyu Road. Ethane containers were being stored on that level. Ethane is flammable at room temperature and when mixed with air can be explosive.
The two cases are being investigated.
