Subway safety checks on track
THE Metro operator has taken new measures to ensure passenger safety due to the recent heat wave.
More mechanical inspections were conducted in recent days to detect and stop possible swelling in steel tracks, which could present operational hazards.
Equipped with high-sensitivity detectors, the check teams are now more closely inspecting the 420 kilometers of subway tracks in the city.
Litter bins on subway platforms are also being temporarily relocated to reduce the disturbance from the smell of garbage going bad quickly due to the heat.
