Thousands delayed by glitch on Metro line
THOUSANDS of subway passengers encountered long delays yesterday morning on a portion of Metro Line 1, one of the city's busiest subway lines, because of an electrical problem that slowed the system.
The Metro operator said the delay, caused by a power supply glitch, lasted more than 30 minutes along eight stations from Shanghai Railway Station to Tonghe Xincun Station.
Trains ran very slowly during that time, the operator said.
Many passengers complained that their trips were delayed much longer, up to an hour.
The Metro operator announced the problem about 10:37am yesterday.
The operator suggested passengers use other means of transportation like buses.
Officials said the problem was fixed and normal service restored by 11am.
