Thunderstorms expected for weekend
THUNDERSTORMS are forecast for parts of the city this afternoon, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said yesterday.
And over the next few days through to next week the city will see showers with more thunder and lightning expected.
Temperatures could hit 35 degrees Celsius today — slightly up from yesterday’s 34.4 degrees and a record this summer.
Songjiang District recorded yesterday’s highest temperature of 34.8 degrees, the bureau said.
Today should be humid with a light haze.
Shanghai will be at the edge of subtropical high over the weekend and early next week, bringing the showers and thunderstorms.
The high will drop to 31 degrees on Saturday and 28 degrees on Sunday.
On Monday, a low of 24 degrees and a high of 28 degrees is forecast, with overcast weather and thunder and showers.
