Ticket sell starts for much shortened rail trips to SW China’s 'Spring City'

BULLET train tickets between Shanghai and Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, will start being sold from 6pm today, Shanghai Railway Bureau said.

The recently-completed Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway will help more than halve the travel time from Shanghai to Kunming to only 10 hours and 36 minutes now, a big relief to many travelers going to the popular travel resort city famous for its beautiful sceneries. Kunming is also called the Spring City due to its nice weather.

The first batch of trains from Shanghai to Kunming will leave on January 5 and 6 with tickets priced at 879 yuan for second class seat and 1,475 yuan for first class seat.

The railway stretch between Guiyang, capital of Guizhou, and Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, is being put into operation, marking the completion of the 2,252-kilometer Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway that took eight years to build.
