Today hottest of summer as high reaches 42
TODAY is the hottest day this summer, with the mercury reaching 42 degrees Celsius in some parts of the Pudong New Area, forecasters said.
The official high temperature downtown reached 38.6 degrees soon after noon, the highest this summer, topping the record of 38.4 degrees on Monday.
A thermometer on Nanjing Road showed 42 degrees, according to a photograph posted by netizens.
Both the hottest area and coolest area were in Pudong. The high in Huanglou observatory was 42 degrees, while that in Lingang New City near the coast was 31.8 degrees.
The maximum temperature recorded in Puxi was 39.9 degrees.
