Tomorrow may see first ice this winter
THE city's highest temperature will fall below 10 degrees Celsius today, first time this winter, due to a strong cold front, local weathermen said.
Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a blue cold wave alert this morning as the readings had dropped by six to eight degrees with gale winds of 50 to 88 kilometers per hour off the coast.
A low of 4.1 degrees was felt this morning in downtown areas but the lowest reading of 1.8 degrees was recorded in the city's Chongming Island, the bureau reported.
The alert was lifted at 8:20am and today's high is expected to reach 9 degrees.
People will feel colder and may find ice tomorrow morning. But the temperature will quickly pick up after sunrise, the forecast said. The influence of the cold front will diminish it moves south.
Tomorrow will be sunny to cloudy with a low of 2 degrees Celsius and a high of 14 degrees.
