Traffic Accidents A Major Cause of Young Deaths

TRAFFIC accidents are a major cause of death among young people in Shanghai, the city's traffic police said yesterday. Of 1,000-plus deaths from traffic accidents last year, 17 percent were in the 10 to 24 age group.
In Songjiang District, police said more than 800 children up to the age of 14 were admitted to hospital each year due to traffic accidents.
Of every 10 cases involving injuries to children across the city, one was the result of a traffic accident, police said.
