Traffic control for Sunday's marathon

TRAFFIC on both sides of the Huangpu River, including the tunnel, will be controlled on Sunday for the 2010 Toray Cup Shanghai International Marathon, police said.

This year's marathon has a new route. It will run across the Huangpu River to connect popular attractions on both sides of the river to show the best of the city.

Its starting point is the Century Square on the pedestrian street of Nanjing Road E. and its destination is the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center near the Expo Site in Pudong New Area.

The race from 7:30am to 1pm on Sunday follows the route of Nanjing Road E., Zhongshan Road E., Fuxing Road E., Fuxing Road Tunnel, Pudong Road S., Yaohua Road, Yaolong Road, Longbin Road, Linpu Road, Huaxia Road W. and Zhouxian Avenue.

These roads and tunnel will be closed temporarily to give way to the athletes.
