Traffic control to smooth holiday rush

TRAFFIC control will be imposed in parts of downtown, the Bund and Lujiazui area during the National Day Holiday from Wednesday to next Thursday.

Shanghai traffic police said road blockage will start at 3:30pm and end at 11:30pm from Wednesday to Sunday. It will turn periodic from October 4 to 7.

Vehicles will be banned in the following areas marked by the intersection of Dongdaming Road and Liyang Road, Liyang Road, Changzhi Road, Tiantong Road, Qufu Road, Xizang Road, Chengdu Road, Chongqing Road, Huaihai Road, Renmin Road, Dongmen Road and the riverside of the Huangpu River.

Certain areas in Lujiazui, Pudong, are forbidden to cars, such as the intersection of Baibu Street and Riverside Promenade, Lujiazui Ring Road, Shibu Street and the riverside of the Huangpu River.

All the roads mentioned above are closed to cars, said the city police. The elevated highways in the restricted areas will also be closed to cars.

Meanwhile, bikes and scooters will also be banned in the area around Henan Road, Renmin Road, Xinkaihe Road and the riverside of the Huangpu River, including the mentioned roads.

The Nanjing Road E Station of Metro Line 2 and Line 10 will also be closed during the traffic control, police added.
