Unseasonal snow falls in Shanghai
SNOW fell in Shanghai today, across the downtown area, Pudong New Area, Chongming Island and Baoshan District, pulling the temperature down to around 5 degrees Celsius this afternoon.
Only two April days in the 1980s recorded snow, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, which said this wintry weather is unusual.
Bureau director Tang Xu explained that frequent cold fronts from the north resulted in April's chilly start, when average temperatures were 3.8 degrees lower than the five-year average.
But the rain is forecast to stop tomorrow, with temperatures between 5 and 11 degrees. Friday is forecast to be sunny, with the heat climbing to 19 degrees over the weekend.
