Warm now but getting cold later

TEMPERATURES are expected to climb today but drop overnight, the weather bureau said yesterday.

Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said that, with the latest weak cold front over, the maximum temperature should exceed 20 degrees Celsius today although it will be mainly cloudy.

However, temperatures are expected to fall dramatically overnight, accompanied by thunderstorms, with a minimum forecast at 4 degrees on Thursday and Friday under the influence of a new cold front.

Temperatures should drop by more than 10 degrees tomorrow with a low of 7 degrees.

In the Chinese lunar calendar, yesterday was Chunfen, literally the divide of spring or the spring equinox, usually a time when it begins to get warmer. But the bureau says temperatures are still subject to major ups and downs.
