Warmest day recorded, cold front nears
TODAY’S temperature is expected to reach 25 degrees Celsius, breaking yesterday's record of 23.9 degrees, making it the warmest day so far this year, local forecasters said.
The low was 11 to 13 degrees Celsius this morning in most districts, but 14.5 degrees in downtown Xujiahui. Thin smog hung over a large part of Shanghai due to weak winds.
The PM2.5 reading of air pollutants rose to 169.6 micrograms per cubic meter at 1pm and the AQI of 147 indicated light air pollution.
But the warm weather is short-lived as a cold front is moving toward the region. The high will drop to 13 degrees Celsius tomorrow. There will be light showers tonight and tomorrow, and temperatures will stay between 5 and 15 degrees in the remaining days of the week.
