THE city should be slightly warmer this weekend, with temperatures above zero degrees Celsius and drizzle expected, weather forecasters said yesterday. Today should be cloudy to overcast with a low of zero and a high of eight degrees. Drizzle is forecast on Sunday due to a weak cold front coming towards the city but should not be heavy, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. The weather for the rest of the next five days should be stable, cloudy with temperatures of zero to 6 degrees Celsius.
The city is now in the coldest period of the year, according to the Chinese lunar calendar since Wednesday, which was xiao han, or slightly cold. The coldest period is usually believed to end after da han, or great cold, in the calendar, which is January 20 this year.
