Weekend’s not going to be a scorcher
DON’T expect a return to scorching temperatures in the next week, forecasters said yesterday.
Since the influence of Typhoon Soudelor brought an end to an eight-day heatwave at the end of last week, there have been no days above 35 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
The highest temperature yesterday at the benchmark Xujiahui weather station was 33.3 degrees.
And it is not expected that temperatures will climb in the coming week, with the high between 31 and 33 degrees and cooler nights than recently.
Stable temperatures, showers and good air quality are forecast for the weekend.
Under the influence of a trough of low pressure, showers and later clear spells are expected today, with a high of 31 degrees, said the bureau.
Air quality should be excellent to good today, said the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center.
Showers are forecast tomorrow and it will be cloudier, with temperatures up 1 degree.
Monday to Wednesday is set to be cloudy with thundershowers and a high of 33 degrees.
