Windy City tourism link-up

SHANGHAI and Chicago are to broadcast clips of each others attractions in high-profile public spots, under a joint tourism initiative.

Shanghai locals will be able to see Chicago's top sights in a short movie to be shown daily from May until October on big TV screens in downtown spots, such as the Bund, Xintiandi and the Lujiazui financial zone.

This is part of the mutually beneficial program signed by the two city authorities, Xinhua news agency reported.

A five-minute video highlighting Shanghai's tourist attractions will play in Chicago, Xinhua reported.

Officials from Shanghai and Chicago said they looked forward to the cooperation that would bring the sister cities closer.

Shanghai and Chicago signed a sister city agreement in 1985.

"Mutual promotion will deepen our friendship," said Feng Guoqin, chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, when signing the memorandum in United States.
