Woman on track hit by Metro train
METRO operations on Line 2 were affected yesterday afternoon after a woman on the track was hit by a train.
The woman was still receiving emergency treatment at hospital last night, police said.
The incident happened about 1:30pm at Zhongshan Park Station, when the woman appeared to jump onto the track in an apparent suicide attempt, said witnesses.
She was hit by a train coming to a halt at the platform. Part of the train's windshield was damaged by the impact, online pictures showed.
Operations resumed 10 minutes later, after the woman was taken to hospital and the train towed away, said city police.
Zhongshan Park Station is not equipped with security screen doors. The operator plans to add the doors to more Line 2 stations. Currently, only two have the safety screens.
