Yellow alert as city swelters

THE city was given a yellow temperature alert with temperatures expected to hit 35 degrees Celsius today.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued the alert at 12.25pm.
Temperature alerts can be yellow, orange or red.
Yesterday the city entered the hottest period of summer, known in Chinese as "rufu" and this will last until the middle of August.
City residents have experienced seven really hot days with temperatures of 35 degrees or above this summer. Twenty more above average hot days are predicted for this summer.
