116 public schools get assistance
SHANGHAI will “strengthen” 116 public middle schools in the coming three years, the Shanghai Education Commission announced yesterday.
Under the “Strong School Project,” the city will deploy successful principals and teachers to train their counterparts at the 116 schools. Also under the project, top schools will share educational resources with less well-reputed schools.
The commission said it will also set up expert teams, with each school having at least three experts, to assess the schools’ current education system and craft their own development plans. The commission will also provide further guidance on implementation.
District governments are asked to provide financial support for schools to renovate buildings, update facilities and develop new courses. District education bureaus are requested to carry out special supervision on the 116 schools and assess their progress.
