163 more dead pigs found in river
THE total number of dead pigs retrieved from the Huangpu River in Shanghai rose to 10,733 after 163 more pig bodies were taken out of water yesterday, city spokesman Xu Wei said.
Xu said authorities will continue to monitor the water along the border between Shanghai and Zhejiang Province. The city will also keep monitoring the main branches of the Huangpu River in case some pigs get past or float to shallows. Test data showed tap water produced by the nine water plants in Songjiang, Jinshan, Minhang and Fengxian districts was up to the national standards.
