5 local officials punished over frugality rules
FIVE Shanghai officials have been punished for violating frugality rules, the party disciplinary watchdog said yesterday.
Among the violators was Zhang Jian, director of the Liuhaisu Gallery. He was given a warning after the gallery spent 534,100 yuan (US$84,800) as subsidies for its employees and buying gifts for others in 2013 under the garb of “public fund” and “special spending,” the Shanghai party disciplinary inspection commission said in a statement. Zhang was ordered to repay the illegally earned wealth.
Fang Zhaowen, former vice general manager of Jing’an Real Estate Group, was given a serious warning after disciplinary inspectors found he had approved nearly 1.8 million yuan as business entertainment expenses between 2013 and 2014. It included expenditure for expensive cigarettes and other activities.
Tang Fayi, executive vice president of the Party school in Zhabei District, was found to have taken 2,500-yuan worth of prepaid shopping cards in 2013 and 2014. Two of his colleagues were also reprimanded.
