660 charged in piracy swoops

CITY prosecutors have charged more than 660 people in 330 cases involving intellectual property infringement and producing and selling counterfeit and inferior goods since the country launched a nationwide crackdown in October 2010.
Officials said the amount involved was about 588 million yuan (US$ 92.5 million) and most came from trademark infringement cases, such as fake brand cigarettes, luxury bags and watches. Tip-offs from the public have been a big help, said prosecutors.
