Appeal for volunteers

THE city’s civil affairs authorities have begun recruiting people aged 50 to 65 to work as volunteers for two months in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The government is seeking people skilled in health care, education, culture, animal husbandry, senior care and social work, the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau said yesterday. Over the past 12 years, the city has sent about 300 senior experts to assist in Xinjiang’s development. This year’s service period will run from June to August, the bureau said.
