Armored car guard suspected of emptying ATM of 400,000 yuan

AN armored car guard is suspected of having emptied about 400,000 yuan (US$64,516) from a bank’s ATM machine in the Pudong New Area, Xinmin.cn reported today.

The suspect was reported to have broken into the bank and damaged the surveillance equipment before the robbery.

The branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in the Zhangjiang area posted a notice saying the machine was closed at midnight yesterday, said the report.

No further details were released.
