A CITY artist has withdrawn a copyright violation claim over two of his works that were copied and displayed in the Fairmont Peace Hotel. Li Shoubai, renowned for his paintings and paper-cuts of shikumen architecture and city life, has been compensated by the counterfeiter, according to Shanghai Second Intermediate People's Court. The court declined to disclose the settlement, saying the two parties made the agreement in private.
