Baby left in bag outside office building

A BABY boy who was left in a small backpack outside an office building in Minhang District on Monday night is being cared for in hospital, police said yesterday.
The infant was found about 10:30pm by a man working late in the building on Zhongchun Road, opposite the Shanghai Children’s Welfare Center.
The man, who uses the nickname “Mengke” online, said he heard a baby crying and went outside to investigate.
“I unzipped the bag and saw there was a baby wrapped in a thin blanket inside,” he said.
The man contacted police and the infant was taken to hospital.
Medical staff said he is doing well, though they have yet to complete a full medical assessment.
Police said they are trying to identify the child as he was left with no clues to his identity.
