Bank heroes honored

THE Agricultural Bank of China gave each of the five people who helped police detain a hostage-taker at its Beicai branch on Monday a 10,000 yuan (US$1,610) reward yesterday. Two security guards, a cleaner and two members of the public were honored for their bravery. Branch staff also got a 50,000 yuan reward for their group response during the incident. Local police said that they are seeking “model of bravery” honors from the city government for the five people involved.
