'Bear cub' mystery
A "BEAR cub" that was rescued by police in Shanghai's Qingpu District has turned out to be a raccoon dog. An officer from Xujing Police Station responded to a call Friday evening that a "bear" was wandering about a residential complex and appeared lost. Police posted its picture on their Weibo microblog account in a bid to establish what the animal was. Their post has been re-tweeted thousands of times. Workers from the city wildlife protection station kept it under observation yesterday and plan to release it to a suitable environment today.
