Blue particles found in Bright Dairy milk
BRIGHT Dairy came under fire again after two customers yesterday complained they found floating blue particles in the company's fresh milk.
A netizen identified as "toshta" posted on his microblog that he saw blue solid particles floating in a 1.5 liter bottle of Bright Dairy milk. Photos of the milk were also posted.
"I was disgusted and shocked when I took a close look as I thought it was a stain on the package at first," he wrote.
He said he has been drinking Bright's milk for a long time as it was a time-honored brand in Shanghai.
Bright later explained the blue particles were part of the plastic bottle cap. It was generated due to friction when a mechanical hand tightened the cap on the assembly line.
The company said it has made adjustments to reduce the friction and prevent this from happening in future.
One consumer who filed a complaint has been compensated 80 yuan (US$12)
Bright has been entangled in four recent scandals.
A cheese product for babies was removed from shelves nationwide after it was found to contain a banned additive in September.
Early in September, nearly 1,000 households in Shanghai received sour milk produced by Bright.
In June, its Ubest milk was found to be contaminated with an alkaline solution.
In July, batches of Bright Dairy's butter and cheese were found to contain excessive bacteria by the market watchdog in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, and were removed from shelves.
