Boss goes to jail

THE boss of the popular Memory Restaurant who disappeared with more than 1.6 million yuan (US$236,640) owed in salaries to staff has been sentenced to 22 months behind bars on the charge of refusing to remunerate his workers, said Huangpu District People’s Court.
Dong Qinggong, legal representative of the restaurant chain, could not be contacted in February, soon after several of its outlets closed, leaving hundreds of consumers with worthless prepaid cards and workers with unpaid salaries. On April 12, police tracked him down in Changchun, capital city of northeastern Jilin province.
