Cable 鈥榯hieves鈥 arrested
TWO men suspected of stealing Metro emergency cables several times and selling them to a junkyard have been arrested for theft, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday. Their alleged accomplice, a junkyard owner surnamed Wang, was arrested for covering up their crimes, prosecutors said. The stolen cables, worth over 5,500 yuan (US$835), are used by the Metro operator for emergencies, such as when a train breaks down. According to prosecutors, the duo, surnamed Du and Zou, allegedly targeted Metro Line 9 between its Jiuting and Sijing stations in Songjiang District.
