Charges brought on ex-Party chief

AN embezzlement and bribery investigation on Zheng Wanxin, former Party Secretary and Deputy President of Shanghai Police College, has been completed and charges have been brought before Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court.
Zheng is alleged to have embezzled “a huge amount” of government money, taken bribes to seek benefits for others, and helped friends and relatives to gain illegal profits over a 17-year period from 1998 to 2015, according to prosecutors.
Zheng was announced to be under investigation last October, having been stripped of Party membership due to “serious offenses of an abominable nature.”
