Cholera-scare frogs given all-clear
BULLFROGS sold at Shanghai's biggest aquatic market were proved to be safe, the Shanghai Center of Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday.
The announcement came after local industrial and commercial authorities removed more than 400 kilograms of bullfrogs from the market on Tongchuan Road as health authorities in neighboring Suzhou claimed they found some bullfrogs from Shanghai contained bacteria that can cause cholera.
The samples were then sent for laboratory tests at the Shanghai CDC.
CDC officials also said that Shanghai hasn't had any reported cholera cases this year.
